Under the clear acrylic, there's a circuit board, a flat copper coil, and a backlit LCD screen. The board generates a low-power electronic signal at whatever frequency you choose, anywhere from 0.01 Hz up to 200,000 Hz.
The 7.83 Hz preset is named after the Schumann resonance, a frequency physicists measure in the Earth's atmosphere. We just think it's a fun number to have one button away.
